I was born in Nagano Prefecture and remained connected with it until I moved to Tokyo at the age of twenty.
Over the course of time, the various memories and experiences of my childhood and adolescence, which had soaked indelibly into my body and formed me, began to emerge as my original color, light and shapes in my painting.
Against the nothingness of a white background of canvas, I create patterns as if they exist.
I arrange flowers in space, and place colors just as I feel.
Unconsciously, I stake my life in the lines and dots which are born from bodily action alone.
I have never doubted the power of art. Never!
I hope from the bottom of my heart the world will be full of color.
The “world,” which I refer to, also reflects our “inner world.”
I give color to a monochromatic world.
I diffuse temperature to nonorganic things.
I would like to continue to express and create my art as long as I can for dear life.
In the paintings of KOSHI Chihiro, various colors overlap and take shape in her unique way of expression - they ceaselessly expand like starlit cosmic space beyond the canvas. Her use of passion-pink, rendered as if dancing, symbolizes the lively presence of this artist with her rich, vivid colors that stimulate the viewers’ senses.
The “Wonder,” - her artistic representation, somehow conjures the atmosphere as a kind of an invisible existence. It arouses feelings such as familiarity and longing, as well as curiosity and, at the same time, it embodies the incomprehensibility of contemporary art. It may even represent the primary color encompassing the artist, who was born and raised in the region of Nagano Prefecture. It might be due to the especial atmosphere of Nagano Prefecture, which evokes images of indigenous Japanese landscape
